The first glass vase was introduced by the Romans around the 1st century BC known as Portland Vase. Portland vase was in Romans Palace when the reign of King Barberini. By that, this vase was also called Barberini Vase. This vase has 25 cm in height with 56 cm in diameters. The white glass was plated with other colors like purple or blue so it looked lovely. The sculpture on vase described Romans’ mythology like human and God. The artistic ornamentation of Portland Vase had influenced the making of many vases all over the world until the 19th century.

 The Portland Vase was an antique and historical vase, because it was found in excavated at Monte del Grano near Rome. From the Barberini’s kingdom, this vase was sold to the Duke of Portland from England. That’s way the vase recognize as Portland Vase. Until now, this antique glass vase is kept in the British Museum.

 Glass vase was often used by people to put a bunch of flower. Before the glass vase had a significant development, this vase was made from white and transparent glass. Beside that, the clear glass would make flower or other plant easy to get sun light. Thus the plants would have a longer life.

But, nowadays many glass vases paint with variants motives and colors. The designs are many and unique. The vase designs for instance bulb, conventional, square, and many more. The other models are wide mouth vase and narrow opening vase.

 

Glass Vase Tips

- The white and transparent glass vase can be varying so that more interesting, and we can use colored lint. First, put the glasss vase on colored lint until every side already covered by the gauze. Use some glue so the lint will stick strong to the vase, and it won’t loose away. We can also use ribbon as adornment, or any else, thus the vase will look new and lovely.

- This is an easy and simple way to recreate and beautify your vase. You only need glass paint. So you can paint and color your vase appropriate to your taste and creativity.

- In addition on it, you can add more ornaments. These ornaments must stick as strong as possible just to keep it won’t loose from the vase. Now, you’ve get a lovely vase.
